Billing overview

ObjectRocket offers the following two billing options:

  • Credit card
  • Consolidated billing for Rackspace Technology customers

How ObjectRocket billing works

ObjectRocket products are generally priced based on the associated storage amount. However, custom options are available. ObjectRocket bills by charging customers for the upcoming month. Any overages from the previous month are added to the next month’s bill in addition to the standard recurring charge for the upcoming month.

For example, if a customer purchases a 100 GB instance on Jan 1st, ObjectRocket immediately charges them $100 (To make the math easy, we use $1 per GB here, but actual rates differ) and sets the first of the month as their bill date. If that instance is then scaled to 150GB on Jan 15th, they will won’t be charged anything immediately. On their next bill date, Feb. 1, They will be billed $150 to cover upcoming February usage of the 150GB iunstance plus an additional $25 to cover the extra 50GB for half of January. If their instance stays the same size in February, they will then just be billed the $150 for March usage on March 1st.

Credit Card

As a new ObjectRocket customer, the system automatically prompts you to enter credit card details when creating your first instance.

Consolidated billing for Rackspace Technology customers

In addition to standard credit card charges, ObjectRocket can also consolidate billing for Rackspace Technology customers with Fastlane billing. FastLane billing is an API-driven billing system available for ObjectRocket for the Rackspace Dedicated platform.

The Fastlane billing API records storage, RAM, and CPU hourly for every product. ObjectRocket then uses this information to automatically update your up-front, monthly bill.

Customers using the ObjectRocket for the Rackspace Dedicated platform

If you are using the Rackspace Dedicated platform, FastLane billing is a manual process. Contact ObjectRocket support@objectrocket.com for enrollment in FastLane billing.

All other customers need to contact ObjectRocket support@objectrocket.com for enrollment in FastLane billing.
